Itinerary
Meet at Nairobi CBD for departure at 7:00 am. Our journey takes us to Nanyuki, where we'll rendezvous with our mountain crew. We'll make a stop to gather supplies before proceeding to Sirimon Gate at 2600m for park fees registration. A picnic lunch will be provided here. Our hike spans 9km through the tropical rainforest, bamboo belt, and haegenia rosewood to the expansive moorland, reaching our camp at Old Moses at 3300m above sea level. Enjoy dinner and accommodation in the bunkhouse.
Following breakfast, we embark on a 13km hike through Mackinder's Valley to Shipton's Camp at 4,300m above sea level. This journey typically takes 6-7 hours, crossing rivers and ridges. We'll pass by the newly established meteorological station for Eastern Africa, with clear days offering stunning views of the main peaks. Lunch is served en route, and dinner and overnight accommodations are provided in the bunkhouse.
Rise at 2:00 am for a light snack before our ascent to Point Lenana at 4985m above sea level, aiming for sunrise. On clear days, Kilimanjaro at 320km can be sighted. The panoramic view is breathtaking and will be captured by our cameras. Afterward, we descend to Austrian Hut (Top Hut) at 4750m above sea level, then further down to Teleki Valley, Mackinder’s Camp at 3,300m above sea level via American Camp and Rangers Camp. A hot brunch awaits at the camp, where you'll have the option to explore or relax to recover from fatigue and lost sleep. Dinner and overnight accommodations are provided in the bunkhouse.
After breakfast, we descend through the alpine moorland to the bamboo zone, where our camp is located at Met Station. This descent takes approximately 4-5 hours. A hot lunch is served at the camp, and Syke monkeys and other wildlife can often be spotted. Enjoy dinner and overnight accommodations.
Following breakfast, we descend through the rainforest to Naromoru Park Gate headquarters. Here, we'll sign out and bid farewell to the crew. Our journey back to Nairobi concludes, with an expected arrival time of 4:30 pm.
